Chase for 61: Promo Set

20 years ago, baseball’s imagination was captured by the chase to break Roger Maris’s homerun record. It’s no secret that in later years the achievements of Sosa & McGwire (and many others) would be tainted, but there’s also no denying that the summer of ’98 was an extremely exciting time to watch what was unfolding. If you need evidence of what the hype was like around these homerun monsters, just check out this video;  McGwire would regularly draw 20,000+ fans just to watch his batting practice. It’s definitely a little weird to think back on now, but as an 8 year old kid at the time, I personally have really fond memories of watching the chase. So it’s with that memory of the excitement and fun of the summer of 1998, that I present our first ever Open Edition Promo Set.

What makes this a “Promo Set”?
We’re calling this a Promo Set because these cards will be distributed as freebies only. 1 card will ship randomly with each order over $15 placed on our website. The card backs also are slightly different- they have our website and social links, as they will additionally be given away at card shows and other events throughout the year.

When can I get ’em?
The cards will release [appropriately] on 6/1. I want to re-iterate that this is an open edition. We’re not asking you to immediately push through 3 orders of scorecards or anything like that (unless you really want to…). You’ll be able to get a card included in orders all the way through 8/31/18. The promo will automatically add to your cart starting on 6/1/18 once an order over $15 has been added to the cart. All items will qualify except gift cards.

The Cards
Chase all 3: McGwire, Sosa, & Maris. Sosa & McGwire have equal rarity, while about 1/2 as many Maris will be produced, making him a bit harder to come by. We definitely encourage you to check out the forums and get to trading those doubles. All 3 cards are pretty jacked up stat wise, and are guaranteed to produce some monster dongs.
